Poker

Poker is played between at least two players. The number can be as small as two or as large as a dozen. The number of players is usually six to eight, although any number of players can be acceptable. Players make bets and the pot, or sum of money bet by everyone, is the prize for each hand. The winner of a hand wins the pot, and if no player calls, the pot is divided equally among the remaining players.

To play poker, a large round table and chairs are necessary. Most games limit the number of players to eight or nine. The objective of the game is to gather chips from your opponents while maintaining a cool demeanor when bluffing. The game can also be played in teams, with players alternating positions. For more players, two separate games can be organized. These are known as tag teams. For more than ten people, there are several variations of Poker.

Players in poker can establish a “kitty” for the game. In addition to the main pot, the kitty is a separate pot for players who win. A low-denomination chip is cut from each pot with more than one raise. This fund belongs to all players equally and is used to buy food and new decks of cards. Players are eligible to receive a share of the kitty chip if he remains in the game and doesn’t fold.
