Poker is a popular card game played in many countries. Traditionally, the game is played with a standard 52-card pack of cards.

The player with the highest hand in a poker game wins the pot. The winnings are split evenly between the winners. Some games allow players to make use of Wild Cards. In these cases, a pair of a wild card may break ties.

A poker hand is made up of five cards. The cards are ranked from Ace to Ace. When a poker hand contains a pair of aces, it is referred to as a Royal Flush. Similarly, a five-card straight is called a Straight Flush.

Poker games can be played with as few as four or as many as eight players. Usually, it is best to play with a group of at least six or eight people.

During each deal, the player can fold or raise the bet. After the first round of betting, each player will have two cards in his hand.

Whenever a player folds, he is said to “fold”. Unless the remaining players agree to continue, he is eliminated from the game.

During a betting interval, each player can make use of up to three cards. At the end of the interval, each player must discard one or more of his cards.

A high card breaks ties when several players have identical hands. Among these same pairs, the hand that is higher wins. Likewise, a pair of aces or a pair of kings breaks ties.
